Yellowstone River - September 1st, 2010
  • Recorded:
  • Partly cloudy
  • 65 ° F
  • Fishing: Great
There is a plug of mud working it's way down the river.  Once the river clears it should fish great.  The hopper bite is starting even later with the cooler nights and lower daytime temps.  Our best hopper as of late has been the chubby chernobyl.  The grand hopper is also working well as of late.  When the fish aren't looking up, a lighting bugs, bow river buggars, and golden stone nymphs are all working.

Madison River - September 1st, 2010
  • Recorded:
  • Partly cloudy
  • 67 ° F
  • Fishing: Good
The Upper Madison has started fishing a lot better lately.  The spruce moths are very thick in areas and twisted sisters and large elk hair caddis are working well.  A grand hopper fished tight to the bank and around the large rocks are being well eaten.  The baetis have just started and the next few weeks should continue to fish well.

Madison River - Lower - September 1st, 2010
  • Recorded:
  • Mostly sunny
  • 72 ° F
  • Fishing: Good
A school bus sized rock fell onto the dam Monday morning and damaged the dam.  It is unknown what is going to happen, but they are calling for a draw down of 9 feet of the lake.  No one is sure how this is going to effect the fishing in the near future, but we will keep you posted.

Missouri River - September 1st, 2010
  • Recorded:
  • Partly cloudy
  • 73 ° F
  • Fishing: Great
The MO continues to produce some great fishing.  The cooler weather has really helped the fishing.  The weeds are still prevalent, but not terrible.  Fishing up at the dam is the most popular, leaving the rest of the river almost barren.  Psuedos and caddis are on the surface at times and you can find surface feeders at times.  Overcast days have been the key.

Gallatin River - September 1st, 2010
  • Recorded:
  • Partly cloudy
  • 63 ° F
  • Fishing: Good
The Gallatin has been running muddy the past few days due to the rain we have received.  Once it clears, expect the fishing to turn back on.  Spruce months and attractors will get the most action.  Trudes, Wullfs, and bigger elk hair caddis.  If you must, drop a small bead head off the back such as a hares ear, or micro mayfly.
