Yellowstone River

The Yellowstone

Right now the Stone is in great shape for the fall.  Plenty of water, and the fish are still looking up for dries.  The lower river continues to be a bit "moody" but if you are looking for a trophy the fish down here love to eat streamers.  Up in the valley the scenery is beautiful and the trout are looking to the surface for their meals.  There have been some baetis out, hoppers are still all over the banks, and small terrestials fool the pickiest of trout.  If you must nymph be ready to weed through the whitefish to find the trout.  Our favorite flies right now are Wullf cripples, red legged hoppers, Morish Hoppers, small para-adams, and the nastiest, ugliest streamers you have in the box.
