Madison River - Lower - January 19th, 2012

  • Partly cloudy
  • 27 ° F
  • Fishing: Good
With recent warmer air temps the lower Madison has been fishing well.  Concentrate on the deeper pockets and slots and make sure your flies are bouncing on the bottom.  Red SJ worms, zebra midges, and lightning bugs are all standard fare.  With the water levels lower at this time of year it won't take a ton of weight to get your flies down.  On the right day you will even find some trout eating midges off the surface.  They usually tend to be the smaller trout, but don't get fooled by the tiny dimples on the surface.  The bigger trout like them as well.  Give us a call for the latest reports.  866-456-6889
