Beaverhead River May 09
Caution: Some expletive language used.
On a earlier trip this spring we fished the Beaverhead River by Dillon Montana. After a morning of catching many trout on nymphs under an indicator the fish started to eat baetis on the surface. Quickly switching over to dries we hunted rising fish for the remainder of the day. In this video we saw a 16-17 inch brown trout moving out from the undercut bank and taking baetis adults off the surface. We let Mike H. take a shot at this trout as being a left handed caster he was in perfect position to make the proper presentation. We worked for this trout for about 10 minutes, losing a fly or two in the bushes before we got him to eat. We will all remember this episode for a long time.

Mike H. found a run where these were stacked like cordwood and pulled out quite a few of these great Beaverhead browns in the morning. .gif)
