Today, January 6th, is the last day to provide your input on this important topic.
To all anglers who fish the Madison River in Montana. Montana Fish and Wildlife and the Commissioners who regulate the river are asking the general public for their input on how to best manage the river. Our river usage is important and responsible. Filling out the requested survey will assist in communicating our groups preferences. Your voice matters. Please use the survey link below.
The state wants to use the Madison plan, and apply it to other rivers statewide in the future. Whether you fish the Madison River or not, without your voice today, you may see these regulations on many other Montana rivers in the near future.
This is not a biological issue but a social issue.
This will effect non-residents, commercial guiding and residents anglers alike.
Regulating areas that see 1% of use on the river isn’t a sensible solution. Neither is closing sections of the river to access with a vessel.
The outfitting community is willing to make some concessions to help with the perceived problem, but we are not willing to concede too many of the proposed options presented.
